Once your child’s application for admission to AISB has been approved, the Admissions office will arrange for you to meet with a member of the Elementary School faculty. The purpose of this meeting is to assess your child’s English language proficiency and/or other learning needs and collect additional background information.
The formal language assessment used by the school is the WIDA (World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment). This test assesses your child’s English language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. An interview with your child is also part of the assessment. The EAL specialist teacher will also interview you to gather additional information (about previous school experiences and home life) concerning your child.
