We have been studying character traits this past week, talking about how we can describe people on the inside, as opposed to what they look like. It is a lot of new vocabulary for the students: proud, creative, cheerful, moody, cooperative, open-minded, calm, energetic…and it takes a lot of repetition. When they can identify these character traits, it helps them understand the actions and the reactions of characters in the stories they read.
To help them understand what people feel on the inside, the students had to think of themselves in certain situations and how it made them feel. They had to act it out and capture it with a photograph. We uploaded the photo to Popplet and they were able to add the text, “When I am…, I am…”
The finished photos follow.
